About our Principal

Principal Pryce
Hello Lyon Families,

This is my fourth year serving as the Lyon Principal. Before I was a principal, I served as an assistant principal, instructional coach and a first grade teacher. Each of these roles has really molded me into the educator that I am today. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher- when I was little I often forced my little sister to play school with me. She was the student along with all my stuffed animals and I played the teacher. This groomed me at an early age and only increased my desire to work around kids. As a high school I tutored children at an educational center and spend many weekends babysitting neighborhood children.

I am honored to have the opportunity to be part of your child(ren)'s education journey. People often ask me what my favorite part of Lyon is and this is always a tough questions because there are so many things that make our school a unique and special place. Here are a couple of things that I appreciate about our school:
  • Our Kids- they bring so much energy and life to our building. It is great to see their excitement and love for learning. My favorite thing is to watch our students achieve their goals that they have set out to achieve. It is just a strong reminder that if we put in the work and effort anything is possible. They are the future adults that are going to make our world a better place.
  • Community Time- each morning at Lyon we start with a school assembly and we have a special portion called showing love. This is a time when we get to greet students and it sets the tone for our day. I love being able to welcome our students. Parents you are welcome to join us during community time so you have the opportunity to see just how special this daily tradition is.
  • Family Field Trips- this is an opportunity for families to have some fun and a great way for me to get to know the Lyon families better. We take two family trips a year. I hope to see you at one of them.
  • Lyon Staff- they have currently spent the last year and a half writing unit plans for literacy- they put a lot of time and effort into these plans to ensure that they are relevant and engaging for students.
  • Our sensory path- we had a several creative staff members create this painted path for students- this helps to refocus them and gives them an opportunity for some movement breaks throughout the day. Our pre-school students love going on the sensory path and refining their motor skills.
  • Having the opportunity to teach in classrooms- I loved teaching first grade and will always be a teacher at heart. I love watching our teachers in action and also providing professional development to continue enhancing the important work that our teachers do each and every day.

There are many other things I love about Lyon- however I wanted to highlight just a few. We would love to hear your favorite things about our school. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Best,

Amanda Pryce
