About our Principal

Principal Pryce
Hello Lyon Families,

This is my sixth year serving as the Lyon Principal. Before I was a principal, I served as an assistant principal, instructional coach and a first grade teacher. Each of these roles has really molded me into the educator that I am today. I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher- when I was little I played school with my sister. She was the student along with all my stuffed animals and I played the teacher. This groomed me at an early age and only increased my desire to work around kids. As a high school student I tutored children at an educational center and spend many weekends babysitting neighborhood children.

I am honored to have the opportunity to be part of your child(ren)'s education journey. People often ask me what my favorite part of Lyon is and this is always a tough questions because there are so many things that make our school a unique and special place. Here are a couple of things that I appreciate about our school:
  • Our Kids- they bring so much energy and life to our building. It is great to see their excitement and love for learning. My favorite thing is to watch our students achieve their goals that they have set out to achieve. It is just a strong reminder that if we put in the work and effort anything is possible. They are the future adults that are going to make our world a better place.
  • Community Time- each morning at Lyon we start with a school with a virtual assembly and we have a special portion called showing love. This is a time when we get to greet students and it sets the tone for our day. I love being able to welcome our students. Parents you are welcome to watch our community time each day- the link is posted on our school dojo page.
  • Family Field Trips- this is an opportunity for families to have some fun and a great way for me to get to know the Lyon families better. We take two family trips a year. I hope to see you at one of them.
  • Lyon Staff- they work so hard to create a warm, loving and enriching environment for our students. This year we are in year two of implementation of our district Social Studies/ Literacy and Science/Literacy Unit plans. At the end of each unit students get to create a project to demonstrate their learning. Every Monday students have hands on experiments in science.
  • This year we have PE 4 times a week and on Monday we have specialized ENCORE classes such as storytelling through art, dance, learning the art of boardgames or science experiments so students get to try out different activities. These classes rotate each quarter.
  • Having the opportunity to teach in classrooms- I loved teaching first grade and will always be a teacher at heart. I love watching our teachers in action and also providing professional development to continue enhancing the important work that our teachers do each and every day.

There are many other things I love about Lyon- however I wanted to highlight just a few. We would love to hear your favorite things about our school. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.

Best,

Amanda Pryce
